While most of the material on an exam may be similar from state to state, each state has certain requirements for construction laws and how businesses are run. States will also differ in the layout, formatting and phrasing they use on their exams. While the main focus of the exam is construction, they cover other areas such as local construction laws, business laws and business operations on the exams. Developed by experts that create the exam, study guides provide information in one location limiting the time searching for all the material.

While computers make all our personal and business financial accounting much easier, they can also increase our risk of losing our important records if we don’t follow a regular backup procedure. Computer hard drives can and do fail. When they do they take with them all the data they contain. If we are making regular backup copies of the drive, then we may only lose a few hours’ worth of updates, but if we’ve been lax, months or even years worth of important financial data including customer information, pending orders, accounts receivable, inventory status, tax records, and more can be lost.
If you have a hard drive failure, the cost of the equipment replacement is the least of your worries. If your small business is run on a few computers or just one, then the loss of a single computer hard drive can cripple your business for an extended period of time. When you think about that way, making daily backup copies is the cheapest form of business insurance you can get.
Hindsight is 20/20, of course, but what if you do have a hard drive failure and don’t have recent backup copies of your important information? All hope is not lost; there is still a way to recover data from failed or damaged hard rives or other digital storage media. There are companies that specialize in data recovery services. These data recovery companies use advanced equipment and techniques to extract data files from your old defective drive and then they copy it to a new drive or disk so that you can access the information again.
Remember though that you are sending not only detailed financial information about your own company, but also possibly personal information about your entire customer base if you kept those records on the computer as well. That’s why it is important to use a reputable company that will protect the security of your data with a strict confidentiality agreement. Make sure you are dealing with an established , professional hard drive data recovery team. Some fly by night outfits will take your bad drive and just try to run recovery software that anyone could purchase off the shelf. If they get lucky, then great, if not then they return the bad drive and keep your bench fee for looking at it. Unfortunately, some of these programs can make it even more difficult to recover your files.
When you contract with a data recovery company, you are paying for results. Don’t get roped into a bench fee or a minimum charge that you must pay whether or not your files are recovered. A good data recovery company will only charge you if they are successful in salvaging the data from your failed hard drive.
If you make regular backup copies, you won’t have to worry about data recovery. If it’s too late for that, then make sure you are going with a company that guarantees its results and your security.

Stepping on to the bathroom scale can be a traumatic experience for many adults. Extra pounds creep on slowly but steadily until we’re five, ten, or twenty pounds heavier than we once were. We all know that carrying around extra weight is not good for the heart and can affect our health in other ways. But getting that extra weight off can seem impossible, especially when we don’t remember putting it on in the first place.
The best solution to keeping the bathroom scale in line is by using another set of scales- the kitchen scale. To understand how kitchen scales can help, we have to start by understanding where that extra weight came from in the first place.
Our bodies use energy from the foods we eat to power our activities. The amount of energy we take in is measured in calories. Our body is built in such a way that any extra calories that we don’t need for energy gets stored away for later in case we come upon lean times and need to rely on the stored energy. That stored energy is fat and when it is not used at a later time, it simply keeps piling on.
There are ten thousands diets and exercise programs out there on the market today but really only two ways get the body to stop storing fat and release what is already there. You can take fewer calories in or you can burn more off. Taking fewer calories in means changing the way and the amounts of food that you eat. Burning more calories comes from an increase in activity levels, whether it is sustained exercise or simply moving more. Most physicians and dieticians recommend a combination of both methods. Exercise is reasonably straight-forward. Controlling what you eat can be a difficult process until you get better acquainted with your food.
That’s where a kitchen scale can help in your efforts to control what you eat. Portion control is a method of restricting your caloric intake by standardizing the sizes of the food you eat. For example, a typical meal could include 4 ounces of fish, but it can be difficult to estimate how much that is without a scale. The kitchen scale helps you keep on track with your weight loss goal. Eventually, you will become familiar with the relative sizes of food and will be able to make an educated estimation. In the meantime, the scale helps you objectively keep to the game plan.
Choose a quality kitchen scale as cheap ones are not accurate and become less accurate over time. Make sure the scale can handle at least up to one pound of weight and is accurate to quarter ounces. Keep the kitchen scale out on the counter so that it is always handy for a quick measurement. And, above all else, keep the scale bed clean and sanitized between uses so that you do not contaminate new food weighed on the scale.
Kitchen scales are a valuable partner in the battle to lose weight. A good set of scales will help you with portion control and caloric restriction and ultimately help to drop the pounds.

When most people talk about Roswell, the first image that comes to mind is an unidentified flying object. Roswell, New Mexico is the capital of UFO sightings and the home of the shady Area 51, but Roswell is also a city in Georgia that has a reputation in its own right. Roswell lies just south of Atlanta and is considered one of its suburbs. With a population of just over 101,000 residents, it is the seventh largest city in Georgia.
Roswell’s history began in the 1830’s when Roswell King rode through the area and recognized its potential for a cotton mill. Vickery Creek, which ran through the area, he thought, would be perfect for powering the mill. The fields surrounding the town were deemed suitable for cotton planting and King’s idea of having production and processing close together was realized.
In the Civil War, the town of Roswell was captured and the mill was burned to the ground, following General Sherman’s tactic of destroying the means of Southern production. All of the mill workers were shipped north to ensure that, even if the mill was rebuilt, there would be no one to work it. Most of the land was confiscated by Union forces and the landowners scattered. Although the mill was rebuilt after the war, it fell upon hard times when the entire cotton industry in the South collapsed from both the lack of free labor and the boll weevil.
Since 1990, the population of Roswell has increased markedly as it provides the perfect balance of convenience and quiet to those who work in Atlanta. Housing prices are far less in Roswell than in Atlanta and it is a popular commute for business and technology workers.
Roswell is well-known for its extensive system of public parks and open spaces. The parks department teams up with local schools to provide athletic practice space and even coaching staff in order to promote activity in the city’s youth.
Frommers has named Roswell one of the Three Top Cities in the Nation to Raise Your Family. CNN included Roswell in its Top 100 Places to Live in the US in 2005. It is ranked as one of the safest cities in which to live based on crime rates.
Roswell offers activities for everyone’s tastes. Those who love history will appreciate the numerous historic tours around the city, even showcasing the ruins of the original mill. There are also plenty of opportunities for shopping including antiques and collectibles stores. For the sports-minded, there are several bike trails and bike rental shops to take a two-wheeled tour of the area.
Roswell offers the best of both worlds in Georgia. Its proximity to Atlanta provides many opportunities to experience the arts, sports, and fine dining. It also has a small town charm all of its own with wide open spaces and room to grow a family.

The objects that you place in your home theater room, furniture, window treatments, and such, will have a tremendous impact on the way the room sounds. The location of those things within the room will also have a major impact. If you don’t think this is true, then consider the way a completely empty room sounds. There is audible echo and voices sound thin and drawn. It sounds unnatural compared to the sound we are used to. This is because a bare room, especially if the floor is hardwood, tile or some other hard surface, is essentially an echo chamber that causes sound waves to reverberate of all of the straight, solid surfaces in the bare room.
Not only are their echoes, but the corners and intersections between walls, ceilings and floors can actually amplify and reinforce higher frequencies, giving them an unnaturally heavy emphasis in the spectrum of sounds reaching your ear. That’s one reason why placing loudspeakers, particularly small, satellite speakers, in corners or near the edge of wall and ceiling can cause them to sound overly bright.
To correct for all these room effects, the goal is to break up the sound waves and reduce echoes before they start. Softer surfaces will absorb sound rather than reflect it. Curves and angles will help to diffract the sound waves rather than bouncing them directly back to the listener.
Much of this basic room treatment happens automatically in the home theater room. Curtains, carpeting, furniture such as recliner or sofas, all act as absorptive surfaces that reduce the overall acoustic brightness of a room. They also act to reduce the perceived volume in the room as they absorb and dampen sound waves.
Sometimes, though ordinary room furnishes aren’t enough. Even a fully furnished room can have issues with reverberation, standing waves, or other distortions that can dramatically alter the sound of your home theater or music system. In these cases, additional room acoustic treatments may be required. Room treatments may include such things as acoustic panels placed on the walls or ceiling or bass traps set into the corners of the room. All are designed to restore the perceived sound from your audio equipment back to the way it should sound. Room Acoustic treatments are not a substitute for good stereo equipment.
If a room does have acoustic problems after being furnished and set up, there are DIY acoustic panels that any homeowner can purchase. Even without expert guidance, a homeowner can place acoustic panels at likely problem locations and use trial and error to dial in their placement. Put the panels up, and then audition the listen to the audio system from the usual sitting positions in the room. Having one person to move the panels and one or more others to provide listening feedback works best.
Because a room’s acoustics are highly dependent upon the furnishings in the room, acoustic treatments should be applied after the room is furnished and fully set up.
If you keep doing the same thing over and over again, but expect the results to be different the next time, you may meet the dictionary definition of irrational. In our personal lives, we would recognize this behavior as nonsensical and we’d change the way we do things in order to improve our results. Yet, too often, owners and managers of businesses both small and large, continue with old habits that have proven time and time again to produce less than desired results.
This can be especially true when it comes to purchasing business supplies. Many companies and purchasing agents put up with less than expected service from suppliers because they have always done business with that particular supplier. Perhaps they feel a sense of loyalty even though the supplier has a record of letting them down.
Even if your suppliers have performed to your expectations, it may still be worthwhile to run a comparison check once in a while to make sure you are getting the best possible price, products and service from your business supply vendors. The knowledge that there is a competitor waiting in the wings might just light a fire under your primary vendor as well.
For consumable business supplies like cash register paper and other thermal paper rolls, a good place to try if you are either unhappy with your current supplier or just want to run a comparison is BuyRolls.com.BuyRolls.com is an internet based supplier of business specialty papers. Although it is a relatively small company, they are more than capable of handling large orders for bigger clients, while maintaining a very high level of service and commitment to smaller customers.
BuyRolls.com has wide selection of thermal paper in nearly every size and configuration you need. They also carry bond paper rolls and even printer ribbons for many POS machines. If your business involves credit card machines, gas pumps, cash registers, ATMs or any other devices that use thermal paper rolls, you could probably be saving money every time you order by visiting the Buyrolls.com website and doing some comparisons. Even if you have a supplier who is willing to match BuyRolls.com’s pricing, it is unlikely they will be able to match their personalized service or their commitment to your satisfaction.
If you’re not completely happy with your current business paper supplier now, chances are that isn’t going to change until you decide to make a change. When you’re ready for a better deal, or if you just want to establish a working relationship with a second vendor, visit Buyrolls.com when it’s time to place your next order. If your current vendor is out of stock on an item you need, that’s another good reason to try BuyRolls.com for all your thermal paper and business paper roll needs.

We have all heard the benefits of getting a good night’s sleep and being well rested extolled. We all know that we should be getting more sleep than we do. But current research is showing that sleep may actually be the key to staying healthy and avoiding disease.
In particular, science is honing in on the relationship between sleep and the body’s immune system. A report in Biological Psychiatry in September 2008 outlines a study that shows that losing sleep for even a single night can increase inflammation in the body. Inflammation is a cause of tissue damage in the body and is thought to be able to trigger both heart disease and autoimmune disease.
While doctors and researchers do not yet know what the exact relationship is between the immune system and sleep, they are starting to understand that the immune system rests and regenerates itself during sleep. Tests on rats which are deprived of sleep altogether show that extended sleep deprivation is fatal in 100% of the cases. Recent tests on why the rats died show a blood infection, tying the health of the immune system into the rats’ sleep patterns.
Other studies suggest that the opposite may also be true. Not sleeping may make you sick, but being sick may make you sleepy. An immune system researcher has found that immune cells release tiny proteins during their work that cause sleepiness. When these immune cells are in overdrive during an illness, they are likely to send more of these proteins to the brain.
Knowing what the right amount of sleep is for your immune system is tricky. Doctors recommend a minimum of 7-9 hours of sleep per night for adults. Many studies show that most people only get between 5 and 7 hours of sleep per night on a regular basis. This sleep deficit can affect many parts of the brain and body, including the immune system.
Getting the right amount of sleep is not always as easy as going to bed earlier or waking up later. The quality of sleep is also important. A full night of tossing and turning with no deep sleep can be as detrimental to health and energy as no sleep at all. In order to have deep sleep cycles, the body and brain must both be at rest. Drinking caffeinated beverages before bed can stop the brain from switching into sleep mode. Alcoholic beverages, even though they can may one sleepy, can also interrupt sleep cycles and prevent sleep.
The most important determinant in good sleep is the mattress you sleep on. Mattresses that cause stress on pressure points like shoulders and hips can make the body uncomfortable enough to prevent sleep. A lack of support in the neck and waist can cause pain and discomfort which causes the sleeper to toss and turn trying to get more comfortable. The best mattresses provide support to every contour of the body which promotes restful sleep and a refreshed immune system. Memory foam mattresses are most often recommended by doctors and chiropractors for proper body and head support and an all around good nights’ sleep.
